To celebrate how far we've come and how far we still will go, I wanted to post something special today...

It's a song that will be on the record!

Makin' My Day

This is the song that is actually playing in the background of the kickstarter video, but I wanted to post it so that you can hear the whole song.

Now... Help me get to our goal so we can go into the studio this JULY and record these songs and get them all to you! :)

Hope this makes you smile!

Today's Thanks!

Whew! Today marks the beginning of fundraising for the record.  Already overwhelmed by the love and support being shown.  There are a few people who have worked so hard to get me this far in the process and I wanted to give them a special shout out today!

Athens Church - for giving me a home and a place to grow.  So many of these songs were born out of the vision that you have passed on to me. Thank you.

Josh Bayne - Thanks for talking me into writing in the first place. :)  You've encouraged every song and pushed me every step of the way.  You've taught me so much! I'm grateful for your friendship.

Rachel and Katie - For being amazing roommates and letting the band make a lot of noise in our house.  So grateful to do life with you!

Daniel - Thank you for your support, wisdom and prayers. I value it more than I can say. You are impacting the world and inspiring others (near and far).

Jules - I love you dearly.  Thank you for your precious friendship.  For supporting and loving, mailing letters, being sacrificial and the most incredible friend I could ask for.

Jacob - Thank you for cheering me on, for talking me through so much, for advising and making me laugh almost every single day. Life would be boring and sad without ya. ;)

Philip Scheidt and Spencer Smith - Your support and music genius is already blowing me away!  You guys have written terrific parts and shown so much love! So thankful y'all are in this with me. :) I would have never started this if not for you.

Shawnte Sandle - Thanks for taking these pictures and making them beautiful! You're wonderful! Thankful you are in my life.

Kaitlyn O'Connor - Thank you for your sweet generosity and for designing the postcards we will be handing/sending out!  So glad to know you!

Lauren Pike - Thank you for your friendship and your endless cheering and support in the past several weeks. Your prayers and love is so special to me.

Mike Pike - Where to begin...? You have already worked so hard.  I am so grateful.  Thank you for dreaming up and writing amazing parts, recording rehearsals and demoes, helping to make the video for Kickstarter... and just being a friend.

There are SO many more to thank and they will all come in time.  Keep checking back to see this story unfold.  Whatever happens, to God be the glory! :)

Perfect timing...

Perfect timing...

Catching you up...

The past couple of weeks have flown by! I've spent a ton of time trying to get everything ready to begin fundraising for the new record.  By the way, fundraising kicks off on THIS TUESDAY!! AHHH! I am... nervous, excited, expectant, terrified... and thankful already. :)

There is an energy to life that comes with springtime. It's so wonderful.  I think everyone and everything starts picking up pace from the coziness and laziness of winter.  I enjoy every season, but this is one of my favorites.  It means new life, change, sunshine, adventure, and outdoor fun.

In the midst of the busy-ness, however, I tend to get caught up and lose focus.  I enjoy the new energy and movement and forget to "be still" and trust the Father.

That's when His perfect timing comes in for my life in the past several days:

Revive me...

So, I'll be honest.  This whole process of making a new album is already overwhelming.  Joyful, but overwhelming.  I believe that God is also using my vulnerability during this time to teach me, heal me, and reveal so much to me.

I have the great privilege of occasionally visiting with one our partner churches in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  I am blessed with rich friendships out here.  These people are wise, generous, loving and real.  From the moment I was picked up at the airport in Denver and arrived at my friends' home in the Springs, I have been encouraged and blessed.

Over a homemade pizza on Thursday evening, my friends and I had some real talk.  The Lord revealed so much to me through our conversation.  The big take away was, "He is jealous for me..." (If you want more details, just let me know). :)

Then yesterday I spent some time hiking and taking in the breathtaking majesty of this place.  Believe me, pictures do NOT do justice.  Friends, I think we should just all pile up in a caravan of cars and come out here. As I fought the altitude (I'm such a southern wimp) and headed up the trails, joy welled up in me.  I found a high spot that gave me a beautiful vista of the Rockies.  There, I sat, listening to music, singing silently and praying. I cut off my iPod and could hear only the wind and birds and sounds of nature. I remained still.  "Then sings my soul..."

This little trip has been just what I needed to feel revived, refreshed and ready for what is ahead.  My only prayer is that I may remember and ponder what has been revealed to me out here.  Let it change me from the inside out.

Special thanks to Ryan and Rachel Griffin and to Julie Simmons for letting Him speak through you.  And to friends near and far who are remembering me.

Hoping that you are also refreshed, my friend!

Ode to Spring in Georgia... :)

Today, this is my theme song.  Pollen... sunshine... and I'm sporting a happy yellow shirt.  Thank you, Coldplay.  Enjoy!

Also... be on the lookout!  There are some BIG THINGS happening in the next few days!

Love to you all, near and far... :)

The start of new things:

When people have said to me, "You should blog." I have always said, "No way." :)  I worry that I have nothing to say that would be of any interest and this may prove itself true all too soon.  However, there are so many new things happening that I feel I am responsible to share with friends and loved ones near and far.

Over the past year or so, I began writing again.  Slowly and surely that part of my soul found its way to the surface.  The songs that came out of it were fresh and different than any I'd ever written.  I discovered that I wanted, more than anything, to compose songs that spoke to the stories, experience, struggles, discontentment, delight, longing that we all have inside us.  In 2011, I began sharing these songs with trusted friends, mentors and loved ones.  I was moved by the support of every single person who heard the raw beginnings of this music.  One friend in particular expressed his support and urged me over and over again to consider making a new record.  To be honest, the idea intimidated me.  But something else was there too: excitement.  The soul of an artist desperately needing to create.

And so the journey began.  Several dear friends who are gifted musicians came together to support and love and bring these songs to life.  A local producer in Athens expressed his support and interest in making this record with us.  As I am about to begin the somewhat intimidating and overwhelming journey of getting this project off the ground, I am moved beyond words by the encouragment already in action by those I am blessed to know.  The people I do life with have a way of turning my trepidatious mind into a grateful and exuberant heart.

Thank you already, friends and family.  You make my day... everyday. :)

So, here we go...
